1. INTRODUCTION
Thank you for visiting LawAtlas.org. Please read these Terms of Use (“Terms”) carefully. By using LawAtlas.org, you are agreeing to these Terms. This is a legal agreement. These Terms also include our Privacy Policy.
LawAtlas.org is owned and operated by the Center for Public Health Law Research at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law, located at 1719 N. Broad Street, Klein Hall, Philadelphia, PA, 19122. The Center for Public Health Law Research at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law will be referred to as “CPHLR” under these Terms. Visitors to LawAtlas.org will be referred to as “User” or “you” under these Terms.
2. USE
Individuals and organizations who visit LawAtlas.org and interact with data can do so at no charge.
By using LawAtlas.org, you represent that you agree to the terms and warrant that you will not use LawAtlas.org in a way that violates any laws or regulations.
CPHLR may change any of the Terms by posting a revised Terms of Use on LawAtlas.org. The new Terms will be effective immediately and apply to any continued or new use of LawAtlas.org. We may change LawAtlas.org and any of its features at any time.
You currently do not need an account to use LawAtlas.org. Should you create one, you are responsible for any account that you have access to whether or not you authorized the use. You must immediate notify CPHLR of any unauthorized use of your account. You are responsible for keeping your account name and password confidential. We are not responsible for any losses due to stolen passwords. You may terminate your account at any time by giving notice to CPHLR at [email protected].

You shall respect our proprietary rights in the software used to provide LawAtlas.org, including our patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
Except as expressly otherwise noted, all data, codebooks and protocols you download from LawAtlas.org are made available to you in accordance with the Creative Commons Attribution- Noncommercial 3.0 Unported License (CC BY-NC 3.0) (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/), as amended and updated by Creative Commons from time to time (“CC BY-NC 3.0”), which is incorporated herein by this reference. The CC BY-NC 3.0 License allows you to freely share and adapt LawAtlas.org content for any noncommercial purpose provided that you give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use. Appropriate Credit means, if supplied, you must provide the name of the creator and attribution parties, a copyright notice, a license notice, and a disclaimer notice. You may not use the material for commercial purposes. Notice: No warranties are given. The license may not give you all of the permissions necessary for your intended use. For example, other rights such as publicity, privacy or moral rights may limit how you use the material. Please consult the CC BY-NC 3.0.
CPHLR may use and disclose your personal information according to our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy is considered a part of these Terms.

By accepting these terms, you promise to follow these general rules: You will not violate our Privacy Policy, which are considered a part of these Terms. If you think anyone is violating any of these Terms, please notify CPHLR by email at [email protected] immediately.
You represent and warrant that your use of LawAtlas.org will comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
The software that supports LawAtlas.org is subject to United States export controls. None of the software may be downloaded or otherwise exported in violation of United States export laws.

5. LIABILITY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YOU ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY LOSS THAT RESULTS FROM YOUR USE OF LAWATLAS.ORG, INCLUDING ANY DOWNLOADS FROM THE LAWATLAS.ORG. CPHLR AND ITS EMPLOYEES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, EVEN IF THEY ARE BASED ON NEGLIGENCE OR WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF THOSE DAMAGES.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE PROVIDE THE MATERIAL ON LAWATLAS.ORGAS IS. WE DO NOT PROVIDE WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
You agree to indemnify and hold the Center for Public Health Law Research at Temple University’s Beasley School of Law harmless for any losses (including attorney fees) that result from claims made that are not allowed under these Terms due to a Limitation of Liability or other provision within these Terms. You also agree to indemnify and hold CPHLR harmless from any losses (including attorney fees) that result from third-party claims that you acted in violation of any of these terms.
If CPHLR files an action against you for breach of these Terms and CPHLR prevails, CPHLR is entitled to recover reasonable attorney fees and any damages or other relief awarded.
CPHLR and LawAtlas.org provides information on the state of the laws and technical assistance on policy surveillance processes. We do not provide legal representation or advice. The information available on LawAtlas.org should not be considered legal advice or a substitute for obtaining legal advice from an attorney who can represent you. If you have specific legal questions, we recommend that you consult with an attorney familiar with the laws of your jurisdiction.

You may not assign any of your rights under these Terms to anyone else. CPHLR may assign our rights to any other individual or entity at our discretion.
The laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, except for conflict of laws rules, will apply to any dispute related to these Terms or LawAtlas.org. You agree to venue in the state or federal courts of Pennsylvania.
CPHLR will not be held liable for any delays or failure in performance of any part of the LawAtlas.org, from any cause beyond our control. This includes, but is not limited to: strikes, riots, blockades, war, terrorism, natural disasters, acts of God, changes to laws or regulations, or acts of hackers or third-party internet service providers.
If a section of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that section will be removed or edited as necessary. The rest of the Terms will still stand.
Any amendments to these Terms will not be effective until we post the revised Terms to LawAtlas.org. If CPHLR does not immediately take action on a violation of these Terms, CPHLR is not giving up any rights under the Terms. CPHLR still may take action.
Any notice to you will be effective when it is posted on LawAtlas.org. Any notice to CPHLR will be effective when delivered to 1719 N. Broad Street, Klein Hall, Philadelphia, PA 19122, or any addresses that may be posted later to LawAtlas.org. In the event of a security breach, CPHLR will notify you of the breach and provide a description of the event.
